Revelation 1:1a, 3 NIV 2011
The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of the prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
The apostle John authored the Book of Revelation. Though he thought the return of Christ was imminent this book is written for all believers to stand firm when facing persecution and never compromise. This apocalyptic information was given to John through an angel sent by Jesus Christ. Verse three is the first of seven beatitudes found within the book of Revelation. God grants favorable conditions not merely happiness to those who are blessed. Psalm 1:1a begins with the same blessing, “Blessed is the one.” All who believe and live God’s Word receive His blessings.
Persecution is something I’ve not experienced in a while. There was a time in my life when I felt persecuted. It didn’t compare to the early church or believers currently residing in areas of little to no tolerance for those who follow Christ. The more I study God’s Word, the more I see those who face persecution do so with the Lord right beside them as they do not waiver in their faith. I will daily choose to remain grounded in God’s Word, which will bring His blessings.
How will I live His Truth today?
Feeling His presence always,
