Isaiah 55:12,13b NIV 2011

“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.”

God gave Isaiah words of hope for Israel. Isaiah 35:10, “and those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing: everlasting joy will crown their heads.” The people would once again laugh and enjoy the favor of the Lord’s peace. Isaiah 54:13, “All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.” Isaiah’s prophetic words of despair and anguish in the book of judgment were replaced with words of hope upon their return. Isaiah 63:14, “like cattle that go down to the plain, they were given rest by the Spirit of the Lord.” Satisfaction is found in God and God alone.

“(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” is a song by the Rolling Stones circa 1965. The sixties were the years of free love and people looking for answers. It was a time when they tried to find themselves. I’m thankful for the foundation I had in Christ. Though a lost sheep for a while, He rescued me in the 1970’s just like He did the Israelites. God gives me rest daily. My satisfaction is found in God alone.
