Acts 28:20, 1Timothy 1:1 NIV 2011

“For this reason I have asked to see you and talk with you. It is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain.”

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope.

Paul, an apostle of Christ was commissioned by Jesus on a dusty road. He declared the hope of Israel. Acts 26:6, “And now it is because of my hope in what God has promised our ancestors that I am on trial today.” Having met Jesus Christ on that dusty road to Damascus he became Christ’s greatest apologist even under arrest. His letter to Timothy declared precisely, “Christ Jesus our hope.” Titus 2:13, “while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. Hope is found in Christ alone.

Through out my life, I can’t remember a time when I thought anything was hopeless. During those times when I was too blind to see His presence, there was always hope. My glass has consistently been half full. Time spent daily in His Word declares the hope of many of God’s people. The New Testament reveals Jesus Christ, the much hoped for Messiah. Though the Jews ignored His deity, we are the recipients of eternal life through Christ. Jesus is my hope, found the day I decided to follow Him.

How does hope define our lives?
