Joshua 21:43-44a 45 NIV 2011

So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there. The Lord gave them rest on every side.

Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

The Lord gave His people the lands He promised to Moses. Deuteronomy 34:4a, “Then the Lord said to him, ‘This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.’” All they needed to do was walk across the Jordan River. Deuteronomy 11:31, “You are about to cross the Jordan to enter and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving to you.” The Savior promised rest to His people. Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” God promises His people rest.

There have been very few times that I’ve been bone tired in my life. Climbing down after attempting to summit Mount Rainier with my husband and two other friends was one of those times. Altitude sickness kept me from going beyond 12,000 feet but that night I slept like a baby. Over my years of walking with the Lord, I’ve learned to rest in Him when all else fails. Jesus said, “Come…I will give you rest.” God’s Word discloses God’s promised rest for His people comes daily.

Under what circumstances has God given you His rest?

Resting in Jesus,
