2 Peter 1:20-21 NIV 2011
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they with were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Peter began his letter to all believers in western Asia Minor with warnings of false teaching in the area. He offered his credentials and continued by declaring the absolute authority of God’s Word. While humans authored all of the Scripture, they were the product of God making these truths known to men. 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” This affirms what Peter wrote. Humans recorded what God spoke to them. God through His Holy Spirit is the source of every Biblical prophecy written by humans.
“We believe that the 66 books of Holy Scripture as originally given are in their entirety the Word of God verbally inspired and wholly without error in all that they declare and, therefore, are the supreme and final authority of faith and life.” This is BSF’s first statement of faith. It’s the foundation of my faith as well. Today just as in Peter’s day many would like to adjust and or change Scripture to fit today’s culture. I affirm God’s Word is completely true.
What would you say to those who want to change God’s Word?
