Joshua 1:5-6 NIV 2011

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

Joshua, having just been given the task of leading the Israelites into the Promised Land, was possibly a bit fearful of the unknown. The new leader, he shouldered the responsibility of God’s people. In two sentences God alleviated Joshua’s fear with His words; “I will be with you” and “I will never leave you.” Genesis 26:3, “Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you…” Jeremiah 1:8, “Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you.” Foundations fixed firmly on the Father face fear with faith.

Awaking Thursday morning May 10, 1984 I could sense it would be long. Mounds of laundry awaited me. A husband needed to leave for work, one daughter was getting ready for school the other for preschool while one was staying home with mommy. Walking from the bedroom to the kitchen I remembered God’s Words to Joshua, “I will be with you; I will never leave you or forsake you.” The day lasted an eternity. I faced fear with my firm Foundation of faith.

What battles do we face daily?

Replacing fear with faith,
