Philippians 2:14-16a NIV 2011
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.
Paul wrote this letter of encouragement to live with joy in all situations. Caution was recommended when the believer’s will did not align with God’s. 1 Corinthians 10:10, “And do not grumble, as some of them did…” Being blameless and holy, not perfect, is the will of God. 1Thessalonians 3:13, “May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father…” As believers they were to be a bright light to the dark and dying world. Jesus’ words to the people in Matthew 5:15 challenged them to be His light. Standing steadfast saved sinners shine Sonlight.
The world today is much the same as it was in Paul’s day. Nothing really changes except the circumstances and the people. We continue to inhabit a world that is full of sin. And there is still need for sinners to find the Savior. By remaining resolute maintaining the course He’s set before me there is scant chance to waiver. Experiencing an amazing sunrise this morning, the return walk offered me a glimpse of shimmering hot air balloons. Standing steadfast helps shine His Sonlight.
What daily routine keeps Jesus’ light shining?
