Mark 10:14b-16 NIV 2011
“Let the little children come to me… Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
Mark’s Godpel was written to encourage believers to persevere by relying on the Lord. Here he captured the essense of Jesus’ advent: the kingdom of God is available to all who approach Him as children ready to recieve the gift of Jesus Christ. John the Baptist prepared the way. Matthew 3:2, “Repent, for the kingdom of heave has come near.” Matthew recorded Jesus words. Matthew 18:3, “And he said, ‘Today I tell you, unless you change and become like little childen, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.’” All who come with child like faith in Jesus Christ are saved.
As a mother of two daughters, from birth to about 5 both of them depended on my husband or on me. It was a gradual process for them to learn how to figure things out on their own. We sat back and waited. But at the end of the day, they knew we were always there as their safety net. Even now as mother’s theselves, there are times they seek us out. We’ll always be Mom and Dad. God is my Father and I’ll always be His child.
How does being a child of God bless you?
Blessed daily as His children,
