1 Corinthians 10:2-4 NIV 2011
They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
Paul addressed some problems of conduct that were present in the church at Corinth. He used Israel’s history as an example of what happened when a believer’s heart was set on anything other than the Lord. God used Moses to redeem the Israelites from Pharaoh’s tyranny. The Israelites were given all they needed during their forty-year journey across the desert. God met their needs. John 6:31, “Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness as it was written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” The Corinthian believers needed to build their faith on Christ who gives spiritual food and drink. God consistently provides for His people.
Several communications the past few days have revealed God’s hand in many aspects of the lives of friends and family. Just when you’re confident you will continue on the current path, God provides a new opportunity to serve and bring Him glory. Unlike the Israelites, by keeping my eyes focused on the Father, I’m not looking at what the world says is important. Grounded on God’s Word, spiritual food nourishes me daily. Upon reflection I can see God consistently provides for His people.
