Colossians 3:16-17 NIV 2011

Let the message of Christ dwell among you, richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Christ’s message dwells within those who know the Good News. Romans 10:17, “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Paul’s words are consistent with other letters written to the faithful. Singing praise brings glory to God. Psalm 47:7, “For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.” Everything done by God’s people reflects Him. 1 Corinthians 10:31b, “whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.” Christian’s daily work must bring glory to God.

What draws others to us? Being told I’m a nice person used to really bother me until I realized it wasn’t me they saw. Yes, I’m still that same sinner that accepted Him into my life years ago but since that day, His Spirit dwells within me. In whatever I’m given to do, this Scripture comes to mind. Writing, at church or anywhere, I serve for Him. My goal is to do each job to the glory of God.

How would you describe the jobs you do?

Seeking God’s glory,
