Deuteronomy 31:7 NIV 2011
Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.
Moses, having just offered blessings along with renewing the covenant the Lord had with Israel turns to his successor. With the Promised Land in view, the Lord chose Joshua to lead the Israelites to take possession of their land. Moses brought him before the assembly and spoke words the Lord had given him. Moses reminded them the Lord would be with them. The land they possessed over four hundred years before would be theirs again. God would go with them. Deuteronomy 31:8, “The Lord himself goes before you, he will never leave you nor forsake you.” God’s promises are faithfully fulfilled.
Reading through God’s Word in the 1990’s in a year was a page-turner. One of the first attributes of God that I saw consistently He was faithful to His promises. Sometimes God’s people remembered what they were told and sometimes the forgot. I see those same tendencies in my life today. There have been times when I’ve rush off trying to fix or undo something before asking and praying for guidance. I’ll rest daily in His Promise, Hebrews 13:5, “Never will I leave you…”
Where is God’s faithfulness visible in our lives today?
Trusting His promises,
