Haggai 2:6-7 NIV 2011
“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty.”
Haggai a prophet of the Lord like Zechariah wrote to encourage the Jews who returned from Babylonian captivity to rebuild the temple. Many think this Scripture was written during Alexander the Great’s Persian conquest. Hebrews 12:26-27 related these verses to the final judgment, which occurs at the second coming of Christ. The “desired…will come” are highly esteemed individuals, those who have answered the call to follow the Lord. Jesus’ arrival at the temple in Jerusalem filled it with God’s presence. Those who follow and trust Jesus, live lives knowing they will see the Lord.
The prophets gave foundational information in the Old Testament pointing to future events found in the New Testament, some as yet future. As a follower of Christ, finding Scripture that substantiates Scripture keeps my faith grounded daily. To think these men of God were given such information humbles me. Being called to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, I will never waiver or stop writing for Him. As a follower who trusts in Jesus, I know I will see Him.
How is He using us to share His Truth to the world?
Faithfully trusting Him with everything,
