2 Corinthians 1:20-21 NIV 2011
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us…
Paul continually pointed the churches back to God’s Word and His promise. Romans 15:8, “For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf off God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed.” The use of “Amen” means, “It is true” or “So be it.” Making that statement all were in agreement with the prayer. Paul challenged them to stand firm in the Holy Spirit’s power as they shared the Good News. 1 Corinthians 16:33, “Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” Jesus Christ fulfilled God’s hope promised in the Old Testament.
Looking back on my life continues to give me direction for the future. I learn from events in history, which help shape my daily lives. Reading all of God’s Word reveals why God sent Jesus. Both my husband and I walked with our parents in their final years. When asked what we did, we have first hand knowledge that may help others. Our girls watched us and have that history. Reading God’s Word, we see Jesus was God’s promised Savior.
How does God’s promise shape lives today?
