1 Chronicles 29:18-19 NIV 2011
“Lord, the God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel, keep these desires and thoughts in the hearts of your people forever, and keep their hearts loyal to you. And give my son Solomon the wholehearted devotion to keep your commands, statutes and decrees.”
David praised and prayed for Solomon’s successful reign as Israel’s new king. He humbly professed that every thing they had came from the Lord. 1 Chronicles 29:14-15a, “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you.” God was with His people in the beginning and would be with them during Solomon’s reign. Their humble hearts needed to be consistently turned toward Him. Psalm 72:1, “Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness.” God equips His humbled servants for service.
Sitting in a my former BSF Leaders circle this morning, I recognized a woman who was a member of my first discussion group in Ohio. It was her first year in BSF and we made a connection. She transferred to our class in New Albany and we connected once again. To see how God moved her to say, “yes” to leadership revealed God was working in her heart. I could type the same for each woman in the circle. God equips His humbled servants for His faithful service.
