Isaiah 54:16b-17 NIV 2011
“And it is I who created the destroyer to wreak havoc; no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.
Isaiah was tasked with telling God’s people in Jerusalem and Judah judgment was imminent. Isaiah 13:5, “They come from faraway lands from the ends of the heavens…” But God would restore them. Isaiah 65:8b-9a, “I will not destroy them all. I will bring forth descendants from Jacob and from Judah…” All servants of the Lord, were true believers. Isaiah 56:6, “All foreigners who bind themselves to the Lord to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants…” God has a plan for the lives of His people.
Many know the story of Christ’s birth but few know the rest of the story. How many of us still see Him in the stable laying in the manger? He wants to be Lord of my life. After I made Him Lord of my life, it was forever changed. When I’m a bit uncomfortable, I stop and remember He is Lord of my life. He doesn’t want me to be comfortable. What happened to His people over and over again in the Bible is my reminder. God has a plan for our lives.
