Isaiah 32:17, Romans 14:17 NIV 2011
The fruit of that righteousness will be peace, its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating or drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah warned Judah of their impending demise. They had turned from seeking God and were satisfied with pleasing themselves. Isaiah 32:15a, “Till the spirit is poured on us from on high…” They chose their own way. Paul wrote of peace and joy for Rome’s faithful. Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Paul told the faithful to seek God above all else. 1 Corinthians 8:8, “But food does not bring us near to God…” God’s peace comes through the Holy Spirit.
Have you ever experienced a time you felt the world was spinning around you? I remember the day my sister called telling me our Father had a stroke the night before. I didn’t know what to do first. One sister and husband arrived. Only five miles from home my car began to act up. My cousin lived near so we swapped cars and were off driving 3.5 hours to Richland in eastern Washington. I felt God’s peace come through the Holy Spirit as I drove.
When have you experience God’s peace?
Daily thankful for His Holy Spirit of peace,
