Deuteronomy 7:6, Psalm 33:12 NIV 2011
For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.
Moses reminded the Israelites over and over, they were to live lives separate from the world. To be holy is to be separate. Living lives devoted to the Lord was the Lord’s reminder to Moses at Mt. Sinai. Exodus 19:6, “You will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” Under God’s protection, Israel remained safe and secure. Psalm 1:1, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.” God’s safe and secure people are beloved and blessed.
“In God We Trust” is printed on the back of our US currency. The US pledge of allegiance contains, “one nation, under God…” Once upon a time we were known as a God fearing nation. Today as we celebrate the Fourth of July, Independence Day, there are fewer young Americans that celebrate our greatness. We need to get back to the basics by beginning with time-spent daily reading God’s Word. Safe and secure believers we’re beloved and blessed.
How is God leading us to be His separate/holy people?
Secure beloved believers,
