Job 8:21, Psalm 121:1-2 NIV 2011
He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.
I lift my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
The book of Job is a dialogue between Job and God and Job and friends. Job 8:1, “Then Bildad the Shuhite replied…” Good’s people suffer and they struggle to understand, why. And yet God is there even in the midst of struggle. Job 42:10, “After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.” The psalter’s trust was grounded in God Almighty. Psalm 125:2, “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore. Trust in the Lord God grounds and builds believers faith.
Bathing my days this summer in prayer has drawn me closer to the Lord. Like Bildad’s words to Job, the Lord fills me daily with laughter and shouts of joy for all He has done in my life. When the doubts of what lies ahead surround me, I know He is right beside me to orchestrate my days. When a door closes, God opens a window. I’ve seen this over and over again in my life. Lifting my eyes to Him, He helps me. Trusting in Him faith grows and I’m grounded.
How have you seen God’s help recently?
