Hebrews 1:3 NIV 2011
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
The author of the book of Hebrews described the supremacy of Jesus, God’s Son. He used seven statements about him, five found in verse three. The “radiance of God’s glory,” seen in Jesus can’t be separated from God. Jesus was God with the skin on. Matthew 1:23, “‘and they will call him Immanuel!’ (which means ‘God with us.)” Paul stated Jesus, God with us, actively holds all things together. Colossians 1:17, “He is before all things and in him all things hold together.” Christ’s blood at the cross cleanses sinners. Jesus, seated next to God, intercedes for sinners. The way to know God today is to know His Son, Jesus Christ.
The first time studying this book, verse three became the model of my meeting Christ as “God with us.” Reflecting the Light of Christ is my desire each day. Nothing can ever separate me from Him. Though He is not with me physically, I rely on the Holy Spirit. I’m able to see daily how He holds this world together when it seems it’s spinning out of control. He saved me and continues to intercede for me with the Father. Knowing Christ I know God.
How well do we know God?
