Isaiah 40:9-10 NIV 2011

You who bring good news to Zion go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!” See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.

God cared for His people and will lead them back to worship Him. Because He cares He would redeem them. Isaiah referred to future “good news.” Jesus brought the Good News by offering salvation to all at the cross. Jesus will return to Jerusalem when He comes again. Revelation 22:12a, “Look, I am coming soon!” God would reward His people by delivering them from exile and returning them to Judah. God is both powerful and personal.

A companion to these verses is found in Psalms. Psalm 91:4, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.” When our Uber did not show up this morning, we loaded our bags into the car and were off to the airport. I dropped off Will, Vegas and the 2 bags to check. I drove, parked and took the shuttle back with God’s help while feeling His personal power as He guided me there and back.

Where do we see His power daily?

His powerful people,
