Psalm 52:8-9 NIV 2011
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for you name is good.
Olive trees were considered the most valuable trees in God’s Word. David used that image to describe belonging to the Lord. Because of the longevity of those trees, he was rooted in God by unfailing trust in Him alone. Psalm 1:3, “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” David trusted God. Psalm 25:3, “No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame.” God is good. Psalm 54:6, “I will praise your name, Lord, for it is good.” Security is rooted in God alone.
Several friends that read this devotional have health battles they face daily. There is one thing they all have in common; their faith and trust in God does not waiver. As a prayer warrior, God has called me to come along side each one by lifting them up to the Lord God Almighty. David’s words in Psalm 25:3, “No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame.” Our security is rooted in God.
