Psalm 66:18-19, 1 John 5:14 NIV 2011
If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
God hears and answers the prayer of His faithful. He answers when He knows the reason behind the prayer. The desires of the heart are transparent; God knows the heart of all believers. When sin gets in the way of a believers prayer, God does not answer those prayers. Believer’s confidence in approaching the Father comes through steadfast time spend in prayer. Building a relationship based on knowing Him keeps believers close and aware of God’s desires for their lives. God wants to answer the prayers of His faithful. God is interested in the “whys” behind prayer requests. Prayerful understanding of God’s will yields answered prayers.
Praying for a dear friend of mine a few years ago there was no agenda to my request. It was not for me that I prayed, but rather for she and her family. God knew my heart, heard my prayer and answered it. Removing myself from the equation and focusing on the needs of those in my prayers, they are powerful, heartfelt prayers. Spending time daily in His Word, I’m humbled by His grace. God knows my heart and hears my plea.
