Psalm 27:8, 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV 2011
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
David, much like the Chronicler, knew seeking God’s face was an important part of his prayer life. 1Chronicles 16:11, “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” The Lord was all he needed. Psalm 27:1, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” The Chronicler revealed what would happen “if” God’s people called to Him humbly in prayer, seeking His face and returning to Him, He would hear, forgive and heal. Seeking God’s face in prayer is time spent with the Lord God Almighty.
Spending time in prayer on a daily basis draws me closer to God. My relationship with Him is constantly growing. Face time spent one on one with my husband keeps our relationship strong, allowing it to grow. The more time I spend with friends, the closer we grow as I learn more and more about them. This is true during times spent on my knees or in the middle of the night talking with God. Sweet refreshing time spent seeking His face in prayer refreshes me.
How will we seek His face today?
