Deuteronomy 4:30-31 NIV2011
When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey him. For the Lord your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your ancestors, which he confirmed to them by oath.
Moses began to teach the children of Israel God’s “decrees and laws.” He then turned to words on idolatry, giving comfort to them in verse 29, “But if there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.” God remains with His people. Psalm 18:6, “In my distress I called to the Lord.” Nehemiah reminded God’s people of His character and that God is gracious. Nehemiah 9:31b, “for you are a gracious and merciful God.” God is merciful.
Twenty years ago today I was in Washington, D.C. It was my desire to attend an inaugruation. I flew with an employee of another airline. My how times have changed. As I walked down the hill this morning all bundled up, it reminded me of the rainy cold day that it was. No matter what happens in my life, I know that God is always there beside me. He will never abandon or forget any believer. I’m confident our Merciful God is with us each step we take.
Where is God’s mercy revealed daily?
Thankflul God is Merciful,
