Psalm 25:5 130:7 NIV 2011

Guide me in your truth and teach me for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.

This is a psalm written by David in prayer asking for God’s mercy during a stressful time. David turned to the Lord because he knew the Lord would guide him. Psalm 31:3, “Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.” Psalm 33:20, “We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.” The psalter knew the Lord was worthy of his hope. Psalm 71:14, “As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.” Hope in the Lord is never misplaced.

A new year brings me hope daily for those who do not know Jesus. Reading the Psalms keeps that hope alive. It is a book filled with men who hoped in the Lord. When I don’t know what to pray, I can always read God’s Word for direction. Isaiah 40:31, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Hope in the Lord is never misplaced.

Why do you place your hope in Jesus?

Hoping in Jesus together,
