Jeremiah 33:6b, John 14:27, Romans 5:1 NIV 2011
“I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.”
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.”
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
The prophet Jeremiah predicted Judah’s captivity by the Babylonians. He offered God’s words of future peace for Jerusalem and the coming Messiah. Jeremiah 30:17, “‘But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord.” John quoted Jesus’ words about peace. One commentator wrote of peace, “total well-being and inner rest of spirit in fellowship with God.” John 20:21, “Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’” Paul’s words to the Romans refer to the amazing new relationship and peace believers receive at salvation. Peace with God comes through Jesus Christ.
A favorite verse of mine is the bedrock of my peace. Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hears and your minds in Christ Jesus.” When I’m struggling with a decision I read this verse. A hospital waiting room finds my Bible open to this verse. It is what I draw upon daily knowing my confessed sins are forgiven; I’m at peace. Peace with God came at the cross when sinless Jesus Christ died for my sins.
When was the last time you felt His peace?
Peaceful saved sinners,
