Mark 6:4-6a NIV 2011
Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.
Jesus left the region and proceeded to Nazareth with His disciples. Preaching in the synagogue many were amazed and others took offense in His hometown. Luke 4:24, “‘Truly I tell you,’ he continued, ‘no prophet is accepted in his hometown.’” John 4:44, (Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country.) Jesus had the ability to perform miracles while in Nazareth but decided against it. He knew they were unwilling to believe He was the promised Messiah. He’d been with people of faith like the Centurion in Luke 7:1-10. Jesus is Lord of every situation.
We were up early this morning to stand by for a flight to Columbus. A text from our daughter yesterday informed us of an important event for our granddaughter. Checking the loads for the flight, we decided we would give it a go. Awaking early this morning, I met the Lord in prayer committing the day to Him. When the last standby was called and the jet-bridge door closed, we knew we were not going. Though disappointed, I know daily, Jesus is Lord.
How is Jesus Lord of your life?
Jesus’ faithful followers,
