Proverbs 3:4, 8:25, 13:15 NIV 2011
Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.
Good judgment wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful leads to their destruction.
Proverbs is the second of three Proverbs revealing wisdom leads to wellbeing. By loving the Lord and being faithful God’s people would find His favor. Proverbs 3:3, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you…” Seeking God through their daily lives God’s people would discover His wisdom. Proverbs 3:13, “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding.” Wisdom comes from the Lord. John 1:4, “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.” Trusting the Lord leads to a life that is lived for Him. Those that trust in the Lord belong to Him.
While writing today, this hymn kept running through my mind, “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.” The refrain is spot-on, “Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er. Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! O for grace to trust Him more!” I love how some of our oldest hymns lay out God’s Truth in perfect meter. Christian music and hymns as well as God’s Word have always been the ways I remain close to the Lord. I know that because I trust Jesus I belong to Him.
How are we trusting Jesus today?
We belong to Jesus,
