Numbers 6:26, John 14:27 NIV 2011
The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
The Lord gave Moses a priestly blessing for His people. It’s called the Aaronic Benediction beginning in verse 24. This peace from the Lord is shalom: rightness and wellbeing, which only comes from the Lord. Psalm 28:11, “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” Jesus’ gave these words to the disciples as encouragement and comfort after He was gone. John 16:33, “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace in this world.” The peace of Jesus Christ is real and present in the lives of all believers.
How often do I carry unnecessary burdens that weigh me down? Whether I’m wrestling with regrets of choices I made or how to make amends, those are times of little peace. While resting in bed this morning, I was wrestling with something and finally I prayed the Lord would show me the way. All of the sudden I could hear, “I will bless you with peace.” What I was wrestling with didn’t matter any longer. The peace of Jesus Christ was real and present in my life.
How have you experienced the peace of Jesus?
