Ephesians 1:7-9 NIV 2011
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ.
Paul began his letter to the church in Ephesus with words of encouragement concerning all the Spiritual blessings they received in Christ. 1 John 3:1, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” Paul and John are of one mind; God’s amazing grace was given at Jesus Christ birth. He was sent to redeem and save all sinners. He paid sin’s price on the cross at Calvary. Redemption is God’s love gift to all who believe and given through the finished work of Jesus Christ.
After the unwrapping the presents under the tree and clearing away the boxes and wrapping paper, the next task was making strawberry waffles. It’s a family tradition. Our Christmas Eve service is another tradition that I enjoy even more. Remembering the reason Jesus came is always a sobering reminder of my sinful nature. We may be good people but we are all still sinners and why we attend Christmas Eve service. God’s gift of love, redemption, came through the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior.
What ways do we daily take advantage of God’s love gift?
Redeemed through Christ alone,
