Luke 2:28-32 NIV 2011

Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of the nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”

After his birth in Bethlehem, Jesus was taken to the Temple by Mary and Joseph to be consecrated to the Lord. Simeon, the priest, was moved by the Spirit to go into the temple courts. Luke 2:26, “It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.” At twelve Jesus sat in the temple courts asking questions and listening. Luke 2:52, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” Jesus, the Messiah came to save God’s people.

Two chapters in Luke read and twenty-two to go. Chapter 2:1-20 tell the story of Jesus’ birth. The rest of his early years follow. As a mother, Mary treasured “all these thing in her heart.” I can relate to treasuring things in my heart as I’ve done the same with our girls remembering all they’ve done from birth to being moms themselves. I call them precious moments God has given me with them. I’m blessed because God sent Jesus to save me.

Who needs to know Jesus saves?

Saved and secure in Christ,

S
