Psalm 103:2-5 NIV 2011
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like eagle’s.
After praising the Lord, David continued by offering all the Lord’s blessings he’d received. God forgives and heals. Matthew 9:2, “Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, ‘Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.’” God redeems and delivers His people. Psalm 71:23, “My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you—I whom you have delivered.” God loves His people. Psalm 103:8, “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” Loving God restores and renews His people.
When I find myself in a hard place or don’t know what to pray, I found this Psalm helps get me started. David was never lacking in ways to praise God. He thanked Him for all He’d done throughout his life. Aware of God’s love and compassion, when I’m stuck, the Psalms are there right in the middle of God’s Word filled with love ready to embrace me. Psalm 103:22, “Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion.” God restores and renews me daily.
How does God restore and renew you?
Loving the Lord,
