2 Kings 20:1-2 NIV 2011
In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says; Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”
Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord.
Hezekiah was a godly king. 2 Kings 18:3-4a, “He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done. He removed the high places.” Because Hezekiah was faithful in prayer, even though Isaiah’s words were true, he knew the Lord would hear and answer his prayer. 2 Kings 19:19, “Now Lord our God, deliver us from his hand so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.” God hears and answers the penitent prayers of His people.
Prayer was Hezekiah’s first reaction following Isaiah’s life changing words. After a call from my sister about our father’s failing health, I went to the Lord in prayer. My dad knew the Lord and knew where he was going. My prayer included peace for my mother and sisters as well as for my father during his walk into eternity. Five days later his walk ended and I knew his new home address. He welcomed my mother home less than two years later. Daily God hears my prayers.
How does God answer your prayers?
