Matthew 11:28-30 NIV 2011
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and burden is light.”
Jesus came to save sinners as He walked among the people. His journey was leading to Jerusalem and the cross. Ten chapters later He entered Jerusalem to shouts of “Hosanna to the Son of David!” His mission was to share God’s Truth; the Son of God is with them. In Galilee after speaking with John the Baptist disciples He warned unrepentant sinners face judgment. He turned offering hope and rest through Him. Joshua 21:4, “The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors.” Frazzled faithful coming to Christ receive rest.
Being a part of the instant gratification world, we want everything to happen immediately. When do we last stop and smell the roses? By scheduleling ourselves so tightly we sometimes don’t have time to breath. Children can be over-scheduled with activities and school. Spending time daily here with you is my respite from the rest of the world. Diving into God’s Word helps refocus my mind and day. I am here because God created me to have a relationship with Him. When frazzled, I can come to Christ for rest.
How do we rest in Christ?
Resting in Him,
