Ephesians 6:23-24 NIV 2011
“Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.”
Paul shares his final words with God’s people in Ephesus. He used “peace” to end his letters to the churches in Galatia and Thessalonica as well as his first letter to Peter. Paul began this letter in 1:2, “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Mental calm and God’s great grace are found in Christ alone. One commentator wrote, “The Greek word for ‘brothers and sisters’ (adelphoi) refers here to believers, both men and women, as part of God’s family.” The same commentary also offered an interpretation of Paul’s last sentence, “Or grace and immortality to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ.” God has a sovereign plan and purpose for His people.
At one time in my teens I thought I was going to serve God as a missionary in Africa. That was not God’s sovereign plan. Then I thought I would be the mother of more than three children, but that was God’s sovereign plan for my younger sister. His sovereign plan for me has enfolded over the years. I’ve served in each church I’ve joined, in leadership with BSF and now I’m writing. God has always had a sovereign plan and purpose for me.
What’s God’s sovereign plan for you?
Purposely pleasing Him,
