Psalm 36:7-9 NIV 2011
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
David prayed to the Lord because he knew God is good. He personally knew God’s abiding love. Psalm 6:4, “Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.” Placing his trust in the Lord, David repeatedly took refuge in Him. Trusting in God quenched his thirst. Jeremiah 31:12b, “ They will be like a well-watered garden, and they will sorrow no more.” The Lord’s Light leads His people. Psalm 27:1a, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” God’s Light guides all who place their trust in Him.
Taking refuge in the shadow of His wings is always my visual when life takes an abrupt turn. Being that near to the Lord and almost feeling His breath on my cheeks helps refocus my thoughts. Because God is good, I can rely on His unfailing love, even in the hard places. He’s continually provided all I need in every single situation. It’s never more nor less than I need. Being fearfully and wonderfully made, He is my light and my salvation. His Light guides me because I trust Him.
How are you trusting God daily?
