2 Corinthians 13:11&14 NIV 2011
Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Paul closed his second letter to the church at Corinth by reassuring the faithful and pointing them to God. He was confident in their God given abilities as he called them to rejoice in all that God had accomplished in their lives. They were called to restore others, Galatians 6:1b, “…should restore that person gently.” Encourage each other, Hebrews 10:22, “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart…” Philippians 2:2, “then make my joy complete by being like-minded.” His benediction brought all facets of the Triune God together. The Triune God is with all who follow Jesus.
I’ve always loved this benediction. It was one of the reasons I was drawn to my current church. That blessing is a reminder as I leave worship that I am taking all three with me. As I sat a bit frustrated a while ago, I remembered the grace I received at the cross. I need to show more of Jesus’ grace. God gave me a love gift in Christ. The Holy Spirit resides in my heart. All three are with me daily.
Who needs to know the Triune God?
