Revelation 21:22-23 NIV 2011
I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
John began his last part of Revelation describing the Holy City after Christ’s return. There will be a new heaven and a new earth. And there is a New Jerusalem, the Holy City. No need for another temple because both God and Jesus will dwell among their people. Just as the fire from heaven consumed the first sacrifice at the dedication of Solomon’s Temple and the glory of the Lord filled the temple in 2 Chronicles 7:1 with God’s Light, the Shekinah glory will be the only light needed. The Glory of God and Jesus Christ shine brighter than any light known to man.
Studying the book of Revelation gave me great insight into God’s majesty. He disclosed this information to John who wrote it down for believers and that’s incredible. God wanted us to know this is not all there is. Jesus will return and there will be a new heaven and a new earth. God’s plans consistently reveal to every single believer His glory. From the Garden of Eden to the advent of Christ and His return, God’s and Jesus’ glory will shine.
Where do we see the Lord’s glory daily?
