Psalm 56:3-6 NIV 2011

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my ruin. They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps, hoping to take my life.

David wrote this Psalm during the seizure of Gath by the Philistines. He stood firm in his faith remembering everything God had done in his life. Even in the face of fear he trusted God. Psalm 130:5, “I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.” Throughout the Psalms each writer placed their complete faith and trust in God. Even when the enemy schemed, conspired and lurked he couldn’t prevail. All who place their trust in God will never be separated from Him.

At various times in my life I’ve heard the expression, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” In finance people are saying you need to diversify your investments. Don’t risk everything at once. Simply put, if you drop the basket all the eggs will break. Thankfully that’s not the case when we put our complete trust in Him. Nothing eternal will get broken or loose value. Having put my trust in God, nothing can ever separate me from Him.

Where do you see Him at work in your daily life?

He is always with us,
