Hebrews 10:21-22 NIV 2011
And since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Believers follow Christ, the Great Priest. Hebrews 3:6, “But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house.” Hebrew’s author gave four conditions for drawing “near to God.” A sincere heart is one that is completely devoted to the Lord. Faith that does not waiver but remains rooted in Christ. A heart that knows Christ understands His sin sacrifice on the cross. Baptism is the outward cleansing commanded by Christ. Matthew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Reconciliation to the Father comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
Our relationship with God forever changed in the Garden of Eden. Jesus came to restore that relationship by covering our sins with His precious blood. Our military and first responders willingly lay down their lives for us. When a relationship is broken, what am I willing to do to restore that relationship? I don’t need to lay down my life, but I need to look inward daily to reconcile those relationships. Faith in Christ has reconciled my relationship with God.
How does a sincere heart help reconciliation?
Faithfully following the Son,
