Ephesians 6:13a-15 NIV 2011
Therefore put on the full armor of God…Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus ended with encouraging words for them to stand their ground, “Stand firm.” As soldiers for the cross of Christ, they needed to stand firm in their faith. Isaiah painted a picture of what Jesus would be clothed in when He walked on earth. Isaiah 11:5, “Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.” Isaiah finished the picture. Isaiah 59:17a, “He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head.” With sandals on Ephesians were armed with God’s Truth. God’s Word holds the gospel of peace found in Jesus Christ.
We live in a world fraught with people that do not live with peace in their hearts. Nothing has changed since Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden. Looking for peace in a time like this can bring out the worst in us. As believers we know the peace that passes understanding. We don’t need to search it out being fearful or feeling alone. Believers are keenly aware of what transpires us. We read God’s Word daily and find peace in Jesus. Christ.
What peace was experienced today?
Awaiting His peace to wash over us,
