Romans 5:1-2 NIV 2011

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

Paul’s reminder: God’s people “have been justified.” Romans 4:25, “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” At the cross Christ provided everyone a relationship with the Father. God’s grace, unmerited favor, came at a high price. Jesus’ final atoning sacrifice at the cross paid-in-full the ransom for all who choose to follow Him. At His death the curtain in the temple was torn from top to bottom, giving all access to God. A personal relationship with the Father was God’s unique purpose for creating man. Believer’s gain access to God and receive grace through Jesus Christ.

After countless hours of work by our son-in-law the family Mustang is in awesome condition. That transformation is much like the one that takes place in the life of a new believer. The shell is there and it takes lots of tinkering to change. We’re given new life through Christ. The changes do not appear over night. Growing in our relationship with Christ is a daily step-by-step process. We receive grace and gain access to God through Christ.

How does God’s grace transform us?

Step-by-step transformed together,
