Isaiah 25:8, Revelation 7:17b, 21:4 NIV 2011
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces.
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Isaiah wove throughout his writing God would not desert His people and they would weep no more. Isaiah 30:19, “you will weep no more.” Isaiah 35:10, “and sorrow and sighing will flee away.” Isaiah 65:19, “The sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.” John’s “Revelation” from God contains the same encouragement for all believers facing persecution. God Almighty would be present and able to wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is not the end. God is the answer to human grief and victoriously wipes away every tear.
God knows when we’re sad. David wrote this in Psalm 56:8, “Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll—are they not in your record?” The God of the Old Testament is the same today. He knows our heart. Comfort is found in God’s Word. He is intimately aware of what is going on in my daily life. The picture painted by both Isaiah and John offers each of us hope when we are grieving. God is my answer to grief because He wipes away every tear.
What tears has God recently wiped away?
Thankful He’s God,
