Psalm 119:113-116 NIV 2011

I hate double-minded people, but I Iove your law.

You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.

Away from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God.

Sustain me, my God, according to your promise and I will live:

do not let my hopes be dashed.

These verses from Psalm 119 are part of the longest Psalm and the longest chapter in God’s Word. While most of the Psalms focus on God’s acts, this one is devoted to the Word of God and how He is the God of the Word. James 1:8 gives reference to double minded people being unstable. The Psalter’s complete trust is placed in God’s Word. With His Word he is able to rise above any obstacle. Romans 6:5a, “And hope does not put us to shame because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts.” God’s Word is the only true foundation for believers.

Spending time with friends who are not believers offers me the opportunity to reflect on Christ’s position in my life. Studying God’s Word daily keeps my mind focused on all the ways I see His hand guiding my steps. I’ve trusted Him with the big things and am continuing to trust Him with the smaller things. He will sustain me according to His Word. His Word is the bedrock foundation of my life.

What is drawing us to Him today?

Standing on His Word,
