But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Luke has long been acknowledged as the writer of the Gospel with his name and the book of Acts. Eusebius, circa 325 AD, believed Luke wrote both books. Luke was Paul’s missionary companion. His quote parallels Paul’s words found in Romans 13:3, “For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong.” Peter and John responded with a question from the Sanhedrin. In Acts 5:29 Luke wrote, “Peter and the other apostles replied: ‘We must obey God rather than human beings!’” Believers are called to speak Jesus’ truth with those who do not believe the truth.
There are a million ways we can share the Truth of Jesus Christ each day. Praying for friends and family is one way. Serving the Lord by volunteering is another. For me, writing is my form of sharing Jesus’ truth. One of the most extremely satisfying ways to share the Lord with others happens here. It has drawn me into a deeper relationship with the Lord after I study and read His Word daily. As a Believer, I speak and write His Truth to those who do and do not believe the Truth.
