Proverbs 27:9 NIV 2011
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart,
and the pleasantness of a friend
springs from their heartfelt advice.
Both perfume and incense bring fragrance any time they are used. Scripture is filled with references to the various times they were present. In John 12:3-5 Judas Iscariot was angry when Mary used expensive perfume on Jesus’ feet. He thought it should be sold and the money given to the poor. The wise men brought gifts to the Messiah including frankincense and myrrh, Matthew 2:11b. Meaningful fragrances bring joy as does a friend. A friend is God’s gift to us in the form of someone special we spend time with sharing our thoughts. Our greatest friend is Jesus. He will never leave or forsake us. Jesus Christ is our True friend who hears and answers our prayers.
Glancing at my phone contact list encourages my spirit. Seeing the names of friends and family reveals I’m truly blessed by the fragrant friendships we each share. Some are old and some new. The greatest friend I’ve ever made is Jesus Christ. He will never leave me or forsake me. Though there have been times when I’m sure I’ve offended Him, upon asking for forgiveness, He forgives me. I am confident he does not hold a grudge and He will consistently make time for me. My friend Jesus hears and answers my prayers daily.
How will you share your friend Jesus with your friends?
Forever thankful for Jesus’ friendship,
