Isaiah 12:5-6, Jeremiah 20:13 NIV 2011
“Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”
Sing to the Lord! Give praise to the Lord!
God is worthy of praise. God loves His people. God created man, Genesis 1:27, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” God continued to love His people, Malachi 1:2, “‘I have loved you,’ says the Lord.” God was present with His people and they sang praises to Him throughout the Old Testament. Genesis 21:6, Psalm 98:4, Isaiah 24:14, Zechariah 2:10 are but a few times God’s people praised Him. Loud shouts proclaiming His greatness brought joy. God is worthy of worship and praise. Drawing near to God daily bathes hearts in peace.
Whenever I’m unsure how to praise God, I turn to the Psalms especially 103:1, 111:1 and Isaiah 63:7. I use my favorite in every prayer, Revelation 22:13 and say, “Lord you are the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” Some days as I walk I praise Him for the beauty I behold in nature. When something extraordinary happens I search for Him in that moment. Knowing God intimately my heart’s at peace.
How do we draw near to God?
Peaceful hearts together,
