John 10:11, Revelation 21:4 NIV 2011
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
A shepherd was one who risked danger for the sheep they tended. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, was willing to loose His life for His sheep. John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 10:15, “Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.” Jesus will return victoriously and there will be no more pain or suffering. 2 Corinthians 5:17a, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come.” Jesus Christ will bring victory over pain when He returns.
I remember the first time a person who was an unbeliever asked, “Why does God allow good people to suffer?” Sending a quick arrow prayer up to the Lord, I shared. Having experienced my times of suffering it was easy to tell my story from a believer’s perspective. Beginning at the beginning in Genesis with sin and showing we’re all sinners is always helpful. People are actually looking daily for hope. I was saved through faith in Christ. He will return the victor over death and pain.
