Psalm 139:14-15 NIV 2011
I praise you because I’m fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
David was a man after God’s own heart. He praised God knowing He is worthy. Psalm 145:10, “All your works praise you, Lord your faithful people extol you.” Holy God makes no mistakes. Moses knew God was holy and worthy of praise. Exodus 15:11, “Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” Though created in darkness, God knew the trajectory of David’s life. Psalm 139:13, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” God knows His people completely because He is the Creator.
Being a child of God, I know I’m fearfully and wonderfully made. Even with that knowledge, I’m still a sinner. David was not flawless and yet he was sinner just like me. Paul persecuted Christians but he was chosen to spread the Good News to the Gentiles. Reading through Isaiah 53 a few days ago made me stop and take stock of all Christ did for me. He was despised; rejected, suffered, in pain, held in low esteem, bore my suffering… God knows me completely because I’m His creation.
