Psalm 103 1-2, 3a4a5a KJV
Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth… who healeth…
Who redeemeth… who crowneth…
This is an historic salvation hymn written by David. He celebrated God’s love and compassion for His people. Psalm 28:6, “Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy.” He then enumerated five personal blessings God’s people receive. God continually forgives and heals His people. The Lord redeemed and showered them with love and mercy. God renews His people giving them strength. Isaiah 40:31, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Satisfaction for sinners comes through faith in the Lord.
Just when I think I’m doing a pretty good job of being me, I find I’ve failed miserably. Reading this Scripture today reminded me of all that I must do when, if that happens again. I need first to look at who the author and finisher of my faith really is. It’s necessary to take stock and reexamine all He has done for me on a daily basis. Enumerating a few of those blessings on paper is tremendously helpful. He redeemed me even though I am a sinner. He continues to forgive and heal my soul. My satisfaction is found in Him alone.
How will you thank God for his work in your life?
Satisfied He is God,
